Location: Remote (with sensible overlap with CET working hours)
TLDR: We’re looking for a Lead Protocol Engineer who will be responsible for owning protocol design, architecture and implementation for our decentralized professional network protocol.
Backdrop is a decentralized network for work. It’s an open, permissionless, and distributed network built on-chain (on Ethereum) and off-chain, where people can connect, create, collaborate, find opportunities, and build amazing things together.
Backdrop Labs is the company building software for this decentralized protocol and network.
This is a very senior role. You will work with the entire team and will go from strategy to implementation. We are a product-led protocol, so your work will support both apps and protocol, and you will make contributions on virtually all engineering efforts.
You will own, design, build, and ship the v1 for our decentralized protocol. The protocol has on-chain components built on Ethereum, and off-chain components running through permissionless APIs. You will be responsible for our longer term steps to decentralize the data storage layer, and making Backdrop sufficiently decentralized.
Most of your work on the protocol will be open source, so we expect that you are particularly excited about open source software, and have experience leading and contributing to open source software initiatives.
